In the wildest of turns, “life” tried to cross our paths twice before we ever met. Attending both Imagine Dragons and Of Monsters and Men concerts but unfortunately we failed those “perception checks.” As all great love stories start, we met via the internet. We matched on Bumble. Alex’s profile was full of Dungeons and Dragons puns which I, of course, found hilarious. The last line of his profile? “Roll Initiative” So I did what any respectable D&D fan would do, I rolled for it and got a natural 1. I thought “Well what an opening this would be.” I snapped a picture, sent it over and waited to see if he would respond. Minutes later I had a response, with a picture included. He rolled a Natural 20! For those well versed in the D&D world would know that I “critically failed” while he “critically succeeded”. Now looking back I realized that he was giving me advantage and as a pair we could face anything that comes our way. We matched right before the holidays and chatted consistently while with our families celebrating. Charisma Check…. Passed. So we set up a first date and on 1.4.2023 we met at Arsenal Tap House and talked for hours before finally calling it a night. Critical Success indeed.
