Alex and I met during my freshman year of high school and his sophomore year when we were randomly assigned seats next to each other in STEM class. Somehow, that random seating chart sparked something neither of us expected. We kept in touch a little over the summer, but things really picked up in September of 2019. We started talking more consistently and quickly became close. Most of our early conversations happened during the COVID lockdown, with hours of texting, FaceTiming, and getting to know each other in such a unique season of life. On May 15th, 2020, in my bonus room, Alex asked me to be his girlfriend, with a bag of watermelon Sour Patch Kids in hand. It was simple and sweet, and so us. A year later, Alex graduated and went to NC State, and the following year, I graduated and joined him in Raleigh as a fellow student. Over the years, we have done long-distance a few times, with our biggest stretch being when Alex moved to Tucson. After I graduate, I will move out west to join him, and we are excited to start building our life together. I will be in Arizona by early July, where we will settle in with our two dogs, Winnie and Finley, who bring us so much joy and a little chaos in the best way. Now, we are planning the wedding we have been dreaming about for years. It meant so much to us to get married on our anniversary, and by God’s grace, May 15th landed on a Saturday the year after I graduated. It felt like a sign that the timing was just right. We are so excited for this next chapter and cannot wait to celebrate with all the people who have supported us along the way.
