Best Man
Will's been my best friend since 9th grade. We met in orchestra, swam on the school team, and did pretty much everything together throughout high school. We've recorded ourselves singing "Guy Love" from the TV show Scrubs in our orchestra director's office, made up "dance" moves (aka "the Phoenix", you'll see it at the wedding), and shared a decade of memories together. He was there for my bowl-cut phase and is genuinely one of the weirdest people to exist. He mailed me a Squatty Potty a couple of months ago as a surprise. And although we went to different colleges and now work and study in different cities, we see each other all the time. He is a brother to me, and I am proud to call him my best man.
Maid of Honor
Alison is my little sister and I'm thrilled to have her as my maid of honor! She helped Alex plan the perfect proposal and went above and beyond to plan an amazing surprise engagement party for me. We have a million special memories together, from sharing an apartment in Austin to raising a baby rabbit together. She's been there for me my whole life, and I couldn't be more thankful to have a sister and a best friend all in one person. Even though we don't live in the same place anymore, we still make an effort to drive out to see each other. Honestly, we couldn't be more opposite people but somehow we are super close. I am truly blessed to have Alison as my sister and I'm so excited for her to stand by me in my wedding!
Groomsman
Hansen and I also met through orchestra. He was the only middle schooler in high school orchestra, and my parents still bring up how amazed they were at this tiny kid with his 3/4 size violin. He was okay, I guess. Hansen's best quality, which was apparent even when he was that tiny kid, however, is his ability to laugh at himself. I've never met anyone like him. In high school, he, Will, and I were inseparable. We played pick-up basketball whenever we could, where Hansen showed off his "squat-and-shoot" form, very low percentage floaters, and inability to talk trash whatsoever. I can't even count the number of times we've played at our school's gym and been chased out by security guards. I "luh" you, man. Thanks for being the sappy one. Thanks for standing with me.
Bridesmaid
Rachel and I met in 6th grade and we've been best friends ever since. We used to wear matching outfits to school and we won the "Attached at the Hip" superlative in high school! She was my best friend even when I had braces, acne, and a bad attitude, and our friendship grew stronger even after we parted ways for college. We kept up through phone calls and met up every time we came home to Las Vegas. She's been there for me in my best and worst moments. We haven't lived in the same place in years, but every time we meet up, we pick up right where we left off. It's rare to have a friendship that survives years and distance, and I can always count on Rachel to be there for me. I was Rachel's maid of honor in her wedding in July and I'm so excited for her to stand by me!
Groomsman
Mark and I met in our freshman dorm in college. We then lived together for the next three years. He and I have spent way too many nights (and days) doing absolutely nothing. When we first talked, he told me how he wanted to unify the theories of physics - then promptly proceeded to spend an entire semester learning how to cut glass bottles in our communal sink. He got even more productive over the next few years, building tables instead of studying and changing his diet to basically just beans and bread to prove a point. Somehow, he still got his masters in 4 years and now runs his own start-up. We sat together the first day of college and the last. He was my first college friend, and I couldn’t have chosen better. I am blessed to have him stand beside me at the start of rest of my life.
Bridesmaid
Beth and I met on the first day of medical school orientation at Baylor and we clicked instantly (even though we're really different people)! We were randomly put in the same PRN (peer resource network). We found out that we had both graduated from the University of Texas, but Beth graduated a year ahead of me. We became super close in our first year of medical school; we played intramural sports together, ate at Chili's countless times, and even co-wrote a research paper. She's been an amazing friend; she has seen my relationship with Alex progress from just friends to dating to engaged, and she was a huge help in planning the proposal! Honestly, med school has been a million times better because of my friendship with Beth, and I'm so thankful to have her as my bridesmaid.
Groomsman
Estie and I met by accident on the first day of medical school. I was placed in the wrong group, and we happened to sit next to each other on the bus to retreat. We then found out we were both from Dallas and went to colleges in the northeast. We bonded over the shared slang we picked up in college, and a friendship was born. At school, we sat next to each other during lectures (for the short time that I attended them), played more foosball than we studied, and did all the intramural sports together. We've gone on road trips to Austin and New Orleans, to Cowboys games, and to countless game nights together. And even though he constantly lies to me at game nights, I trust him like a brother. Thank you for encouraging me to pursue the girl of my dreams. Thank you for standing with me.
Bridesmaid
Yasmin and I also met on the first day of orientation at Baylor and we were put in the same PRN. She's been such an important friend to me and we became really close throughout medical school. We've had so many movie/face mask nights, played intramural volleyball, and went on a cruise together with Beth and some other classmates during spring break. She also helped Alex plan the proposal and she sort of called it from the beginning that Alex and I would start dating. I am so thankful that Yas and I met and became as close as we did. I feel so lucky that we immediately connected and that we've been there for each other through the ups and downs of med school, and I feel even more lucky to have her as one of my closest friends and my bridesmaid.
