We met in March of 2020. A few months prior, Alex Grossman had moved home to Atlanta from Augusta, GA. However, it wasn’t long before we all had to face our new reality, a world where we would connect virtually or six-feet apart. Luckily and unknowingly, we had the same idea to escape the city and stay with family at Lake Oconee for a few weeks. It didn’t take long before our good mutual friend, Coach Middleton, came to visit and introduced us. Over the next few weeks, we shared a lot of laughs, hello-fresh meals and beautiful sunsets and built a friendship we knew was special. However, it would soon come time for Alex S. to return home to Atlanta and that was when Alex G. decided to go home as well to pursue her in Atlanta despite being a detriment to his golf game. Luckily, it was the best tradeoff he ever made.

We got engaged Labor Day weekend in Athens, GA, a special place for both of us being UGA alumni. Alex G., with the help of our wonderful families, planned every minute of the day and no amount of rain could stop it. It started with a walk through North Campus to the Founders Garden (our favorite place on campus), where Alex popped the question and Alex said YES! We then enjoyed lunch together at Last Resort, our favorite restaurant in Athens, followed by a surprise celebration with family at Creature Comforts Brewery.
