How we met.

03/2015

This is a funny story. I say this is funny because most people wouldn't have made it this far of almost 5 years together from meeting a stranger at a bar. But that's what happened. In March of 2015, Alex and I were downtown Austin, Tx at the same time. My friend Pamela, my aunt Samantha, and I were downtown at a bar called Coyote Ugly. If any of you have not been to one, I highly recommend it, especially if you're a female. While Pam and I were hanging out on the balcony area sipping our drinks, she told me I need to find a real man, one that can grow a real beard. During that exact moment, She saw a group of men walking down the street, and one stuck out the most to her. Once they were close enough, she screamed over the balcony, "HEY YOU WITH THE BEARD!" The group of men was startled at first, but she convinced them to come up and hang out with us. When they arrived, the one Pam was thinking was a perfect fit was none other than Alex. After that, we hit it off, and the rest is history.

How he Proposed Part 1

05/2019

Before we dive right into this one, I have to share an inside joke with my family. My family and I have always joked about my reaction to this scary movie called As above So below. When watching the movie, I was so freaked out that I was rubbing my sternum and asking if anyone needed popcorn, just trying to find an excuse to walk out for a few minutes. Another story that will be relevant to this story is when Alex and I were driving around one day we were listening to the radio and "The Good Stuff" from Kenny Chesney came on, and one of the lyrics made me think of Alex. This lyric "Mamma's all worried when you get home late, And droppin' the ring in the spaghetti plate 'Cause you're hands are shakin' so much" ever since then we have made the joke that I was going to get proposed to while eating spaghetti, and I was going to be stressed and ask for popcorn. Back to the story: Alex and I have always talked about our futures. Right from the beginning, we spoke about preferences about children, animals, houses, etc. Most of the time, like every average couple, we didn't always see eye to eye. But that blame that on foolish pride. One thing for sure, we wanted to get married. Possibly 1-2 years ago, my great-grandma passed, and my mother wanted a piece of her to go to me. It was a ring in his hand. The ring has a golden band with an aquamarine stone surrounded with white stones. It was my favorite.

How he Proposed Part 2

05/2019

Starting the year off in 2019, I was becoming more and more suspicious that he was going to propose. I only had this feeling because the families were putting the idea in his head. A few days after our 4th anniversary, we decided to go and spend mother's day with my mother and sisters at the Cheesecake factory. Shortly after Alex had stepped out to make a phone call to his coworker. As soon as he walked away I joked with my mom that if dad show's up to join us with popcorn, Alex was going to propose. Shortly after Alex arrived back and we ordered food and then my Dad arrived. I looked at both of them and just knew it. Lunch went smoothly and then we decided to walk around and enjoy the scenery around outside. We went down this walking path covered by trees to this balcony over a pond, but it was crowded by people, and we found another way further down that led down to a pond. The path was really rocky but we made it down and there was so many ducks. They were so cute. As my family walked around I sat down at a bench next to a group of ducks, and then I joked with Alex that he should propose to shock my parents and then he knelt down and said "Like this?" and I looked at him with my grandmothers ring in his hand. I was so thrilled and didn't believe it. My first response was, "Really?" Pictures were taken and we were so excited and of course, I said yes. That was the best day, and we couldn't have planned it better.
