Exploring

Since this is a trip for mostly all our guests, we hope that you will make it a longer visit in order to explore all that Portland has to offer. Jacob grew up in this area, so here is a list of some noteworthy places that we hope you'll find the time to check out! But honestly, there's more than we could ever recommend...
Portland Head Light

Portland Head Light

12 Captain Strout Circle, Cape Elizabeth, ME

One of the first places Jacob brought Alexa during her first trips to Maine. One of the most iconic and picturesque spots in the area. Also where our brother and sister-in-law, Sam & Steph, got engaged! We were hiding in the nonexistent snowy bushes to take photos the whole time!

L.L.Bean

L.L.Bean

95 Main Street, Freeport, ME

Jacob's dad has worked at L.L.Bean for 30+ years, so this is a must in the LaPlante household. So if you're up for a little bit of a drive, just going to check out the campus with the GIANT bean boot is well worth it.

The Old Port

Exchange Street & Commercial Street, Portland, ME

Mackworth Island

Falmouth, ME

A beautiful walking trail around the island with awesome views of Portland. Definitely one of Stevie's happy places.

Bissell Brothers Brewing Company

38 Resurgam Place, Portland, ME

A local brewery that we always find time to go to whenever we're in Maine... and inevitably bring some home. During the pandemic, Jacob would act as our friend Chris's delivery boy by bringing Bissell Brothers back to CT for him!

Industrial Way - Craft Breweries

Industrial Way, Portland, ME

This street in Portland—basically in Jacob's childhood backyard—is the home to so many craft breweries with beer you do not want to miss out on. They include Allagash Brewing Company, Foundation Brewing Company, Austin Street Brewery, and Battery Steele Brewing. I mean, talk about a beer crawl...

The Holy Donut

The Holy Donut

177 Commercial Street, Portland, ME

Some of the best donuts you'll ever try... and they're made from potatoes! A Portland staple that the LaPlantes always stock up on for breakfast when we visit. After our engagement shoot, we treated our photographer, Thalia, to these delicious donuts... any excuse to have one!

Flatbread Company

72 Commercial Street #5, Portland, Maine

Wood-fired pizza on the wharf... enough said. This was the first food place Jacob took Alexa in Portland... and it was clearly good enough for her to stick around!

Duckfat

43 Middle Street, Portland, ME

An itty bitty restaurant where everything is cooked in duck fat. Tough to get a table but it's a must.

Portland Lobster Company

180 Commercial Street, Portland, ME

Fresh lobster on a wharf... yum! We met our friends Megan & Matt there once and got stuck in a giant thunderstorm, which sounds terrible but was a blast!

For all the days along the way
