Ryan & Alexa met as classmates during college and didn’t think much of it at the time. It started by talking for hours after class, then Ryan asking for Alexa's number so she could send him her notes (he thinks he's clever). Lastly, it was the Taylor Swift CD he surprised her with that won her over.
Ryan and Alexa texted and spent many nights talking on the phone leading up to December 9, 2014. On the day of their first date, and in true gentleman fashion, Ryan picked Alexa up from her house where he got to meet her crazy Cuban family (fast-foward, he now enjoys making coladas and tostones and loves when Alexa makes vaca frita with black beans and rice along with her homemade tres leche). Ryan took her to lunch at Taco Diner in Southlake, TX where they talked about family, faith and how important it is to always keep God at the center of the relationship. From that day on, they were inseparable and for the next year Ryan and Alexa would spend every day together establishing a strong foundation.
Alexa was in Albuquerque, New Mexico finishing Physician Assistant school when Ryan decided to visit and celebrate their anniversary (7 years!). During her entire stay in Albuquerque, there was one thing they hadn't done yet...ride the tram up the Sandia Mountain. Ryan decided this would be a great idea to do on their anniversary (valentine's day, not suspicious at all) before heading to dinner. Ryan & Alexa got to the top and noticed the mountain was covered in snow, a breathtaking view on a beautiful evening. They began to hike the ridge to get away from the crowd and found a quiet spot overlooking the city. They set the phone in video mode against a boulder to capture different shots. A few moments later Ryan dropped to one knee, pulled out a blue box (we all know the store) and inside was the most gorgeous ring. He then asked Alexa to be his wife and spend forever with him.
