Fat Daddy’s Bar and Grill. Not the most romantic answer when people ask where Alexa and Phil met - but, in the wise words of Rihanna, they found love in a hopeless place. Alexa was a sophomore at the University of Florida and Phil a junior, soaking up the last few nights of “syllabus week” before the spring semester kicked into gear. Their eyes locked from across the room (and over everybody’s heads) and the rest, as they say, is history. Phil and Alexa spent the next semester attached at the hip. Fraternity and sorority date functions turned into real dates, friend groups merged and countless memories were made. They made it official in 2019, and the year was packed with formals, library dates, tailgates, road trips and movie nights. Their final year in college (Alexa’s senior year and Phil’s last year in his master’s program) got cut short by Covid. Phil finished out the spring semester quarantining in Gainesville with his roommates while Alexa did what every sensible 22 year old did in March of 2020 - moved home and bought a dog. Little did they know this dog would become Alexa and Phil’s first child and their absolute pride and joy, Charlee. 2021 was spent living at home, driving back and forth weekly between Fort Lauderdale and Miami so they would never be apart for too long. They started their first “real world” jobs in accounting and real estate investment and took countless trips together, from the lake house, Vermont, Texas, Boston, the Bahamas and everywhere in between. After saving up enough to move in together, they found the absolute perfect house in 2022. A big yard for Charlee and Phil’s 2-3 grills, enough space for both of them to work remotely, and plenty of room for entertaining. They spent the next 3 years making this house a home, filled with annual Super Bowl parties, family gatherings, birthday parties, themed nights and BBQs with Phil’s famous brisket. And on the off chance they weren’t hanging at home, you could find them on their Saturday morning “Char adventure”, the first two in line at a trendy new restaurant, front row at a country concert or executing their next big vacation. After talks of marriage and a few visits to different ring stores, Phil concocted the perfect surprise proposal. A typical Saturday sunrise beach morning with Charlee led to an aisle of roses in the sand, a beautiful picnic display, Alexa’s best friend Maria hiding in the bushes taking pictures, and a heartfelt speech followed by the ultimate question (that had the easiest answer!) But this is only the beginning of their story. Alexa and Phil cannot wait to make it official surrounded by their favorite people in March and start the next chapter of their lives!
