How We Met

The not so secret set-up.

Grace and Grayson (my twin and her husband, then fiancé) had always wanted to set us up (they even had my brother, Robbie, scope Parker out when they were at Grayson's bachelor party). Before Grace and Grayson were married, Grayson was living in San Francisco and invited Grace and I up to celebrate his birthday in the city. This "city" weekend quickly turned into a last minute weekend at the cutest little cabin in Lake Tahoe - Parkers family's cabin (which Grayson conveniently didn't tell me about until I was boarding the plane). Parks and I immediately hit it off when we picked him up and his golden retriever puppy ran out to greet us, and we then spent the whole weekend flirting and laughing as we both gained interest in each other. When the weekend was over, it's safe to say that I was a bit sad that Parks didn't ask for my number when we went our separate ways, but that all changed when he slid into my DM's...

Our Story

The long game.

After texting and a bit of FaceTiming for a month, the second time Parks and I saw each other was at Grace and Grayson's wedding, which only helped solidify our interest in each other. This started off our journey of doing long distance, which lead to many FaceTime dates and only seeing each other about once or twice a month. Since we were both living at home at the time, we got to know each others families while getting to know each other, which was really special. After a year of doing long distance, Parker was able to get a transfer with his job and made the move to south Orange County (he actually moved exactly 1 year to the weekend that we had met). We finally got to experience dating in person and determine if this was something that could actually work. On November 12th, 2018, Parker told me he loved me for the first time, and I think we both realized that this was really serious. We did a year of dating in person until finally, exactly two years (to the weekend that we met) later, Parks had the absolute best surprise for me...

The Proposal

The best day.

Parks had been planning this for awhile, and I was ready for it to happen. The scheming began early in the week when we received a text from a friend that we were going to have a birthday dinner on Saturday night for Parker's roommate. Parker planted the seed that this was going to be a nice steak dinner, and we would have to be dressed up for it. We decided to have a low-key night on Friday and do a double date with Grace and Grayson, and Parks threw me off at the end of the night by saying that our engagement date was going to be even more delayed than expected. We had a girls brunch planned for the next morning with all my best gals, during which they all continued to throw me off the trail. After brunch, I headed to Grace's place and got ready for the night. I met Parks in San Clemente and after going to Happy Hour, we decided to walk on the beach trail to the birthday dinner. As we were walking, we came across the cutest little table with champagne, sunflowers, a bible, and a little box on it. As soon as P started walking us towards that table, I looked at him in disbelief and asked “what is happening?!”. He had us both kneel next to the table, read some verses from the Bible that had “The Abercrombies” engraved on it, and told me this was his prayer for our future family. He then asked me to stand up, got on one knee, and asked me to be his wife (easiest yes ever!). After taking photos, we drove back up to Newport and walked in to the best family celebration/cocktail hour. Towards the end of the event, Parker invited everyone back to my parents house to finish the night there. After seeing everyone out, we drove to their house and as we were pulling up, all of our friends were standing outside! I was speechless and completely shocked! We then ate tacos, drank champagne, and danced the night away with all of our friends and family. Almost everyone ended up in the pool, and it was the best day and night.
