Before Alexa met Nick, she met Nick's best friend Jalen. Jalen knew that they were meant to be together, and came home confident in sharing that he had found Nick's future wife. Months later, pulled by some unknown force, Nick transferred away from Misericordia University to Temple University, hearing whispers of an up-and-coming poetry collective. Alexa, the Vice President of the collective at the time, auditioned him. They spent Sundays brunching in the Philadelphia Autumn, and by New Year they were in love.
We spent late May first in Madrid, and then a quick flight over to Morocco for our first steps on the African Continent. After two full days riding on skinny dirt roads through the Moroccan mountains, we arrived at the edge of the Sahara Desert, that endless expanse of orange beautifully clashing with the long blue sky. We rode in on camels, and just as the sun began to touch the pinking horizon, we stopped to marvel and gaze. Nick pulled out his little box, Alexa said yes, and we hugged deep and big. After two years of covid complexities, we cannot wait to be married!
