How We Met

A Pandemic Romance

Alexa & Drew met during October of 2020 as things were returning to some semblance of “normalcy” following the summer COVID shut downs & spikes. They were both invited to a mutual friend's halloween party & that's where the story starts! Alexa, dressed as a “holy cow”, and Drew, dressed as a lumberjack, ended up around the fire pit towards the tail end of the halloween party and began making small talk about work and future plans. Just before leaving the party Drew asked for Alexa's number and sent her a quick “nice to meet you” text. They both were under the assumption that they would most likely never see each other again since Drew lived in Manayunk and Alexa lived in Topton. Fast forward another 1-2 months and (with a lot of encouragement from their mutual friends) Alexa decided to text Drew, just to see if he would still be interested in getting to know each other. Drew happily answered and so began their “virtual dating”. After about 2 months of FaceTime dates, phone calls, and nonstop texting they decided to go on their first “in person” date. Unintentionally their first “in person” date was on Valentine’s Day weekend of 2021.

The Proposal

He did a very good job

Drew proposed to Alexa on 6/17/2022 surrounded by their parents, Alexa’s sister, and their closest friends. Drew enlisted the help of Alexa’s Dad to execute his proposal plan. Alexa’s favorite song is “Drops of Jupiter” by Train and Drew had asked her dad & her dad’s band to learn this song for one of their upcoming gigs so Drew could propose during her favorite song. Her dad’s band agreed and learned the song for their gig. Drew’s parents also decided to visit that weekend (all as part of Drew’s master plan) and decided to go out with Alexa’s family and friends to her Dad’s gig. Drew proposed as her father sang “Drops of Jupiter” with their families and friends around them. It was a magical night full of love and neither one of them could think of a better way to celebrate starting the rest of their lives together.
