Our story begins like many modern love stories…on a dating app. On Christmas Eve 2022, Alex was sitting near the fire in the corner of his parents’ living room. Fresh off of everyone opening their presents, he looked around and realized he was the only member of his family without someone special to cuddle up next to. So, instead of letting that get him down, he decided to go to the only place he knew that could help him find that someone before next Christmas...Hinge! After just a few minutes on the app, he came across a profile that truly stood out. The first thing he noticed, of course, was the smile. Alex fancies himself quite the comedian, so he’s always had a soft spot for a great smile, but this one might have been the most beautiful one he'd ever seen! The next thing he noticed was that this stunning woman had photos from her various travels. Alex does, in fact, love a good adventure. And finally, the detail that sealed the deal, she loved fried pickles and even had an ongoing list of the best spots in town to get a basket. So he mustered up some courage (and possibly a prayer) and sent her a message to see if she could show him her favorite spot sometime. A few weeks (and one mysteriously canceled cabin weekend) later, Luisa sent him a reply. “She’d love to!” After a few more messages on Hinge, the conversation was electric, and Alex asked Luisa for her phone number. From there, we exchanged texts for a couple of days, long enough for Luisa to determine that this guy wasn’t *too* crazy, and set a date for that Saturday night. Our first date took place at Eagle Park Brewing in Milwaukee. Conversation and drinks were flowing, so naturally the night continued with dinner at La Masa for some empanadas and even transitioned to a third location for cocktails at Fink’s. At that point, it was already clear this was either the start of something great…or at the very least, a strong mutual appreciation for good food and drinks. On the second date, we opted for a slightly more casual coffee outing at one of Luisa’s favorite spots, Fiddleheads Coffee in Thiensville. But Luisa didn’t come alone, she brought backup and introduced Alex to her dog, Piper. This was a big test for Alex. If Piper approved, he could continue taking her mom on dates; if not, the relationship would likely end that night. Alex arrived to find Luisa and Piper already waiting, and luckily for him, it may have been love at first sight. This made Luisa both excited and possibly a bit jealous? By the third date, we entered Alex’s territory on the slopes of Little Switzerland, where he got to show off his self-proclaimed “extremely rad” ski skills. Like a true gentleman, Alex provided the full princess treatment: helping Luisa into her boots, carrying skis and poles, pushing her across flat areas, and carefully guiding her down every green run. It was after this date that Luisa realized she might be falling in love. The following week, we made it official as Alex realized he needed to lock it down and asked Luisa to be his girlfriend. Over the next three years, we met each other’s family and friends, traveled, went on countless dates, and built a life full of laughter, adventure, and endless cuddles with Piper. Then, on February 9, 2026, while on a ski vacation in Banff, Canada, Alex took Luisa to watch the sunrise over the towering Rockies surrounding Bow Lake. Just after the sun broke the horizon, Alex got down on one knee and asked Luisa if she would make him the happiest man in the world and do him the honor of becoming his wife. So, what started as a mutual love of fried pickles turned into our love story that we're so excited to celebrate with all of you!
