How we Met

July, 2024

As we often say, we met the old-fashioned way - online! Maybe someday it will be considered “old-fashioned”. We connected on Facebook dating in July 2024. We were both very skeptical of online dating and didn’t have high hopes. But that all changed once we started messaging each other. Something was different from the start! After about a week, we went on our first date - dinner, drinks, and music on the patio at Barrel 135. We were both nervous (Eric even went out and bought a new shirt and shoes a few hours before!), but it went perfectly. We discovered we both love Poke bowls and shared creme brûlée for dessert. Eric cracked the sugar crust of the creme brûlée with a spoon and got it in his hair. Alex thought it was adorable! More than anything, we realized how easy and natural we felt being together and that we wanted to see each other again. As they say, the rest is history! We’ve been together ever since!

Proposal Story

May 25, 2025

Although Eric and Alex talked about getting engaged, Alex had no idea it was happening when it was! She thought it would be at least a few months later. Alex figured out that Eric had asked her mom, Kathy, for her blessing (Alex was on the phone with her mom when Eric pulled in the driveway and pieced it together from there). They panicked and came up with a story as to why Eric was there. Alex didn’t buy it, so Eric told her it was “something good and she would know in 3-6 months”. She did believe that, even though it would actually happen about a month later! Eric’s cousin Melissa and her husband Tyler got married on May 24, 2025, so most of Eric’s family was home that weekend. Alex’s aunt was also visiting from out of town, so he figured it was the right moment! Eric’s parents, Nancy and Joe, planned to host a cookout the day after the wedding. Alex’s mom and aunt were invited too. Alex was the only person who didn’t know what was coming! Alex and Eric took a nice photo together at the wedding the day before and Alex used it as her Facebook profile photo. Eric told her he needed “a new profile picture too”. So Maria (Eric’s sister) took several photos in the backyard where everyone was hanging out. But then Eric turned and quickly dropped to one knee! Alex was shaking her head yes before he even got the words out, and Maria got it all on camera! Jenna (Eric’s sister-in-law) also got it on video. Shortly after saying “yes” the rest of the family came running out with confetti shooters while “Marry You” by Bruno Mars played (thanks Riley!). Then we spent the rest of the day celebrating with family and friends. It was perfect and the best day ever (until our wedding of course!).
