How We Met

The one time online dating works out

We met in an unconventional way. We both found each other on the infamous Tinder app. He was so persistent in meeting me that he never gave up whenever I told him I was too busy. Finally, he had bugged me enough that I decided to just meet him and see where it goes from there. At the time I was busy with school and a research project that I only had a little bit of time so we settled for a movie. He was bummed when I told him I didn't have time before or after the movie to sit down with him and chat. I was so stressed and frustrated that I snapped at him saying we could reschedule (again). But he decided he would take what we could get so I met him at the movie theater, smelling of sardines and dog food, where we watched Wind River (not really a good date movie but still a good movie). After that, we chatted a little, and then I had to leave again to do some more work. After that first date we talked more and more and he started to grow on me. And now I am so happy that he didn't give up on me because I wouldn't be marrying my soul mate.

The Proposal

August 22 2020

Prior to the actual proposal, there was a lot of sneaking around between Alex and my parents. Of course, I was suspicious because I'm nosey and need to know everything. The next day, Alex was leaving to go back to Laramie but he asked to go on a walk before I took him to the airport. So, we went to our usual place which is just a little natural area behind the church down the street from us. We were sitting on a bench when he said "I have something for you" and he pulled out a little cloth holder. He proceeded to tell me that what was inside was only a place holder because what he really wanted to give me needed some sprucing up. He also told me that my grandfather gave them to him as they belonged to my late grandmother. He pulled out a gorgeous ring, got down on one knee, and said "will you marry me?' Of course, I said yes. There was no question about it.
