We’re getting married!

We met in the most modern, unexpected way: through Instagram. Two years ago, Brittany had been watching Alex’s TikTok videos and eventually hit “follow.” Alex had just come out of a breakup, and when he lurked her profile, he followed back and slid into her DMs (while definitely not admitting he thought she was cute). We decided to meet up for coffee, and from that moment forward, something just clicked. We became instant friends—and not long after, best friends. The timing, however, was nowhere near ideal. Alex was heartbroken, Brittany was in a relationship, and what grew between us lived in this painfully platonic space we both pretended not to notice. Life pulled us apart physically when Brittany moved to another state, started a new job, and walked straight into one of the toughest seasons of her life. Even from miles away, we stayed close. We talked constantly, supported each other, and built a friendship that felt like home. We didn’t see each other for seven months, but somehow we remained each other’s person. Brittany eventually ended her relationship. Alex had moved on emotionally by then, and still—we stayed strictly in the “best friends” lane. Neither of us saw the other in a romantic light. Or maybe we just didn’t let ourselves. Then came March. Brittany was going through it, and Alex said, “Why don’t you just say f*ck it and buy a ticket to Austin for your two days off?” So she did. And for whatever reason—maybe timing, maybe fate, maybe the universe finally exhaling—it clicked during that trip. Somewhere between laughter, comfort, and a tipsy night at a country bar on her last evening in town, we suddenly looked at each other like: What were we doing with other people this whole time? From that moment, everything fell into place. Brittany moved back to Texas. We moved in together. And eventually, on a stunning beach in California, Alex proposed. We spent an entire week celebrating a love that somehow feels brand new and years in the making at the same time. Alex once worried that love like this might never find him. Brittany’s love healed parts of him he didn’t know could be touched. And Brittany found in Alex a partner who had already been her safe place long before either of us realized it was love. What started as a DM turned into the greatest plot twist of our lives. We became best friends first, and soulmates right after. It was always supposed to be us. And now, we can’t wait to do forever together.
