We're a dating app success story, haha! We "swiped right" on each other on Hinge, and then started going on dates pretty soon after. We met during the COVID era, so ended up spending a lot of time together right off the bat. It was at a ski trip with friends that Alex knew she wanted to date Josh, who had journeyed out into a snow storm to get Alex and her friends cookie dough, ice cream, and chicken noodle soup. :) On 4th of July, 2021, they were watching fireworks on the docks of Navy Yard, D.C., and that's when Josh looked at Alex and said "I'm going to marry you one day." Fast forward two years later, Josh asked Mr. Hoen for permission to marry Alex on Easter of 2023, as he had been saving up for a ring. All throughout September, he planned random dates to throw Alex off his tracks, but was especially secretive about one date on August 25th. He took Alex on a retro boat rental out on the Potomac from the Wharf in D.C., where two of Alex’s close friends (Leela & Jaq) waited patiently to snap pictures secretly from a nearby dock in Alexandria. Josh then got down on one knee (or as best as one can in a boat) and asked Alex to marry him, to which she used one of their favorite sayings, "... life partners?"
