For a couple of months, we had mutual friends trying to set us up. We eventually met at a game night the mutual friends were hosting and had some casual conversation. We went out a few more times over the next few months both in groups and one-on-one, but we both had a lot going on, and the timing was never quite right. Finally, on a beautiful July night around a bonfire while looking at the stars, we had our first kiss, and the rest is history!
We had arrived in Costa Rica for vacation late on Friday night. On Saturday morning we went outside to have coffee on our balcony, something we often enjoy doing. Alex went inside for a minute and came back out to stand with Amanda at the railing. While overlooking the ocean, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! She, of course, said yes. We enjoyed the remainder of our week on vacation as a newly engaged couple, taking lots of pictures and loving the start of this chapter.
When COVID-19 hit, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the big wedding we had planned. We also decided that we did not want to wait any longer to get married and start this new chapter of our lives together. So, we found an amazing spot on the top of a mountain to hold our small ceremony with our families. It was a perfect day with sun, rain, thunder and lighting, our families and our dogs. We could not have asked for anything more, other than to celebrate with our family and friends! We are sad that you could not be there with us on our special day, but we are so happy to be married and to start this next chapter of our lives together!
