Alex swears it’s normal, but you’ll always find me saying it with a giggle—we matched on Hinge! We were quick to schedule a date for a few days later in Louisville. He sent me the location to a burger joint in Nulu, I drove up really hungry and a bit nervous just before I had a unique ‘Welcome to Louisville’ adventure in the parking lot before I even walked into the restaurant. Now that’s a funny story for another day! I walked up to what I thought was the door—couldn’t budge it. Walked over to what I thought was another door—couldn’t get it open. I returned to the first door—no luck. Alex, watching this all happen from inside the restaurant, swooped in and opened the first door…quickly reassuring me that he had the same difficulty that night. We’ll fast forward through the burgers and small talk, but as dinner was ending and our faces were starting to hurt from smiling and laughing, we were not ready to go our separate ways. Alex suggested we head around the corner to a brewery. The brewery we get to celebrate our marriage at with all of you, West Sixth in Nulu, is where we truly got into our wild first date over a cider and a cerveza. When I say wild, I don’t mean our first kiss or even holding hands. Nope! Alex drove right in the deep end telling me about the half-serious-half-joke comment where his best friend told him to marry the next girl he went on a date with. I was only one-and-a-half beers in, but I immediately knew this was someone I wanted to laugh with every day and stumble through life’s adventures with.
