Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Anna Hopkins and Alessio Shamsher
Some of our favorite eats, bars, hikes, and more in Portland and beyond.
Blockhouse

This is our venue, for reference!

3410 SE 56th Ave

3410 SE 56th Ave

3410 Southeast 56th Avenue, Portland, OR 97206

This is our home, for reference!

Mt. Tabor Park

Mt. Tabor Park

Southeast Salmon Street, Portland, OR 97215

Come watch the sunset over the city of Portland on a clear day.

My Vice Food & Spirits

My Vice Food & Spirits

2035 Southeast Cesar Estrada Chavez Boulevard, Portland, OR 97214

This is our favorite low-key brunch spot that never misses. At the time of writing this (January), they are still closed and awaiting permits from the city. They should be open by May! Alessio recommends the Breakfast Burrito and Anna recommends the Louisiana Hash. Don't miss out on the house made hot sauce. No reservations available, walk in space only. They get quite busy on the weekends, but it's worth the wait.

Too Soon

18 Northeast 28th Avenue, Portland, OR 97232

Anna's favorite bar in Portland.

Silsila The Flaming Tandoor

819 North Killingsworth Street, Portland, OR 97217

Our favorite Indian spot in town. Approved by Father Shamsher himself.

Tulip Shop Tavern

825 North Killingsworth Street, Portland, OR 97217

Conveniently located next to Silsila!

Dirty Pretty

638 East Burnside Street, Portland, OR 97214

What can I say, we like swanky bars!

Scotch Lodge

215 Southeast 9th Avenue, Portland, OR 97214

Fancy Scotch bar + restaurant with incredible sharable plates and creative cocktails, both with and without Scotch. Make a reservation!

Stumptown Coffee Roasters

Stumptown Coffee Roasters

4525 Southeast Division Street, Portland, OR 97206

Double Dragon

1235 Southeast Division Street, Portland, OR 97202

Fantastic cocktails and an amazing food menu. We recommend the Bahn Mi and Corn Ribs.

Peninsula Park

700 North Rosa parks Way, Portland, OR 97217

Our first apartment was a just a few minute's walk from this beautiful park. Perfect for a picnic. The roses won't quite yet be blooming in May, but this is still a wonderful park to see.

Hawthorne

Portland, OR

Looking for gifts during your visit? Look no further than Hawthorne Boulevard on the East side of the river. This street is home to tons of local businesses as well as bars, restaurants, and coffee shops to sustain your spree.

Grassa

1375 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, OR 97214

Very tasty, casual Italian eats. There are three locations!

CASCADA Thermal Springs + Hotel

1150 Northeast Alberta Street, Portland, OR 97211

Very luxe hotel and spa with underground thermal springs. Day passes are $100 and include 3 hours of time in the outdoor hot tub, saunas, steam rooms, and thermal springs. The hotel is fairly priced if you're looking for something a little upper scale (you do need to add on the springs pass as it is not included, but they do give you a discounted rate).

Portland Japanese Garden

Portland Japanese Garden

611 Southwest Kingston Avenue, Portland, OR 97205

Alessio's beautiful place of work. A Portland staple for tourism.

Latourell Falls

Latourell Falls

OR 97019

While the more popular Multnomah Falls lives just nearby, we recommend checking out Latourelle Falls for a more laid back experience. Parking is free (no reservations required) and the easy to moderate hike to the upper falls is very much worth it!

Cascade Head Preserve - Upper Trailhead

Cascade Head Preserve - Upper Trailhead

Otis, OR 97368

Another one of our favorite hikes, coastal edition! This is a 4 hour or so loop trail. You'll spend about 3 of those hours in the woods, taking in all of the smells and sights of the local fauna and flora. This hike then opens up to a beautiful view where the Salmon River meets the Pacific Ocean. Pro tip, download AllTrails before your visit if you plan on doing any hiking!

Les Caves Wine Bar

1719 Northeast Alberta Street, Portland, OR 97211

This wine bar has since been renamed Bar Nina after Nina Simone. Stop in for a glass of wine, a fantastic grilled cheese, and say "Bonjour" to Pierre for us.
