Aleigh and Jack met in New Orleans on a chilly December night in 2015. Jack was working at a boutique hotel in the Warehouse district and Aleigh was visiting New Orleans on a mother daughter trip to celebrate finishing one of her last semesters in nursing school. By fate Aleigh and her mother would be staying at the Old 77 hotel and Chandlery which is the same hotel Jack was working at. That evening Jack assisted in checking-in Aleigh and her mother trying to charm them with his knowledge of the city. He was interested to say the least but knew he could not cross the line with a guest and would have to wait for his opportunity. Aleigh and Jack would see each other throughout her stay and he would spend his time trying to talk to her as much as possible but little did he know she was interested as well. Aleigh's mother sensed Jack's interest and knew of her interest in Jack and encouraged Aleigh to make a move. Luckily for Jack on Aleigh's last night in town she went for it and asked him out. Jack took her to one of his favorite dive bar spots called "The Saint" and they talked until he realized he had to go home to let his roommates dog out. The night was not over as Aleigh and Jack went to take the dog out together and ended up talking all night. AfterJack dropped Aleigh off at the hotel lobby that he knew his life would forever be changed and Aleigh knew that her life would be changed too. They spoke every night after that night and the rest is history.
We woke up on our last day in Paris and I knew it was the time to ask Aleigh finally to be my wife. We had a full day ahead as we planned on visiting the Palace of Versailles and then the Louvre. The day started with us realizing Aleigh no longer had her passport until we retraced our steps in finding out that we left it at the first restaurant we ate at in our neighborhood. After finding it and diverting that crisis we headed to the Palace and things were once again on track for me to have the perfect proposal! " Not so fast" life would say, "you don't think it'll be that easy!". We then during our travel had to switch trains twice to make it to the Palace. After getting there and seeing how happy she was I knew things were back on track and I would do it there! As I tried to make it to the gardens to propose Aleigh knew we were on a tight schedule and suggested we head to the Louvre before it closed. Once again I couldn't believe I missed another romantic opportunity, but the Louvre would be ours. As we left the Palace to get to the train station that we came from, we realized it was now closed by the policia. We would have to walk 5 miles to get to the train for the Louvre, but time was ticking and we might not make it. I thought as long as we make it there I'll have the perfect place to propose but instead we missed getting off at the right stop on the train and by the time we got there the Louvre guards would not let us in. Aleigh being the spectacular artist was crushed and I was devastated for her. It almost seemed like the world or nature was against my plans. I told her lets go get a drink. As we sat at that cafe and took in the scenery and had a few pints I realized that life doesn't present perfect moments you make them. We left the cafe and walking back to the train I stopped like I was tying my shoe and she looked back and down and I said "life like today won't always be perfect but I want to spend it with you" will you marry me?
