As I’ve watched her selflessly travel the world to spread the love of Jesus and advocate for the voices of the youth and oppressed; she’s taught me many things in my walk with Christ. I thank God for her constantly as we are more like sisters than friends. I’m sure you can only imagine how protective I am over her heart so when Junior came into the picture I had my standards set very high. Not only did he blow my standard’s for her out of park but he also became one of my closest friends. Before meeting Jr., I knew he would become an important part of the family just by how highly Alese spoke about him. Seeing them together only reassured what I already knew, she was head over heels. It didn’t take long for Jr. to prove to be exactly how she explained. He is thoughtful, kind, hilarious, a man of faith and looks at Alese with so much love in his eyes. When I met Junior last Christmas I was apprehensive as any big brother should be. But he and I spoke and I knew he was as genuine as they come. I could tell right away that Junior had a huge heart and that he loved my sister. Alese is the baby of the family and I feel like Kacie, Danny, Cody and I have been pretty protective of her. But with Junior I feel like we can let her go (so to speak). Alese has a beautiful soul and she has found another beautiful soul to spend her life with. My brother and just clicked I don’t know how but they did. So as time went on I was always tryna hang with the “cool kids”. But it wasn’t until I was in elementary and middle school when we started to sleepover each others houses and we all basically was living together. Going to school in the AM then after school whether it was church, football, or basketball practice. On the weekends going to everybody football games reading scriptures on Sunday’s. Turned the nothing we had as youngsters to a whole lot. We did it all together as kids whether it was my house or at the “ville”.

Alese, has been the joy of my heart since the first second she came into this world with a full head of curly hair ringlets, the bluest eyes and the hugest smile. From that day on she has given me 10 million smiles and laughs. Her early teenage years we challenging but Her resilience and toughness were brought to the surface of her being and shortly after high school she began a journey of learning about her relationship to Jesus and His plan for our lives. Alese has an infectious personality, an incredible laugh and a true presence when she enters a room. I cannot be more joyful of this God ordained union and I am excited to see how God uses them as a couple to create an aurora of His grace where ever they travel in this journey. She will soon leave the protection of my camp and venture out with Junior under his umbrella. I have deep emotions in the process of letting my role go as her protector and life guide. However, I am extremely confident that Junior will fill those shoes for her in every way God intended for her. It is our jobs as parents to love and raise our children into to capable adults and then release them into the world. It is way tougher for a father to release his daughter than sons. It takes a special young man to ease that anxiety and Junior is that man for Alese and our family. The fact is I have gained a new son and I welcome him and his entire family into our family!
