Once Upon a Time in San Diego

It's always weird when people ask us how we met because the simple answer is "Hinge". The presence of the internet is a norm in the origin story of modern couples, but no one really falls in love over a screen. But the initial swipe became strings of texts about everything from life on the ground to the exploration of the stars, and soon enough, plans to meet in person. ~L~ I remember waiting in the plaza of Little Italy, nervous about the potential awkwardness that comes with meeting someone new, whether the conversation would flow or if it would one of those instances where topics would have to be forced out. ~A~ On my part, I didn't go into the date thinking this would be my forever guy. I liked our text conversation but felt nervous to get excited. What if we just didn't click and I got excited for no reason? Things didn't go as planned. It was too cold to enjoy a walk with Ice Cream as we originally planned, and all the wine bars were full which was strange for a Monday evening. But the conversation happened as seamlessly as the stroll across the dimly lit streets of Little Italy. We made our way to the Ballast Point Brewery, and over a beer and burger we talked into the late hours of the night. Eventually, she agreed to a second date! We chose to go to the Museum of Us in Balboa Park for our second date. The museum led to a sunset stroll through the Rose Garden, which led to a dinner at a ramen restaurant. Minutes again became hours and the day transitioned into a warm October autumn night. Luis drove Alejandra back to her place, and just as he thought the day would be over, she asked him to walk Valentina. By the end of the night, both of them knew this was something special. These few dates turned into a long distance relationship spanning the Pacific Ocean! Luis went to Japan for a two-year tour while Alejandra was in San Diego, but they both agreed on trying their relationship long distance. It wasn't easy; between work and a time difference of 17 hours, they made it work, visiting when they could. 2 Trips to Japan and 5 trips to Hawaii later for Alejandra. Now the next adventure, Virginia! We've made memories all over San Diego, Japan, and Hawaii and officially legally tied the knot on August 21st, 2023. We are excited to finally say our vows and celebrate with our Family and friends! Please join is in San Diego :) Celebra con nosotros <3
