Dontae and Alejandra met at the 2023 single’s retreat called Freedom, located in New Hampshire. Alejandra wasn’t planning on attending, but her friends convinced her last minute to join them. She was happy she went. The first night of the event her friends and her sat on the town behind Dontae and his friends, but they didn’t interact. The next morning they both ended up sitting in the same place and one of Alejandra’s friends knew some of Dontae’s friends so she turned around to greet him and the rest of the guys. Politely Alejandra did the same. She ended up shaking Dontae’s hand (which he shook way too hard) and his dimples and gorgeous smile made Alejandra feel butterflies in her stomach. That day Dontae asked for Alejandra’s number and they both did some art work together in the activities offered at the retreat. Alejandra accidentally left her phone at his DJ stand (and Dontae thought it was on purpose ) but later that day they saw each other again . The next day was the last day of the retreat and Dontae and Alejandra parted ways. They stayed in contact as friends and five months later Dontae asked Alejandra to be his girlfriend and she said yes. A year later, Dontae proposed to Alejandra with the most beautiful poem at the beach when they were having a picnic, watching the sunset. She said yes again .
