Coffee please! There are a couple of coffee options in Ojai, but Beacon is by far the best. They roast high quality micro-lots from family owned farms and have a big open space with whitewashed walls, plenty of big tables, and a very local crowd. P.S. they serve a few daily pastries at the counter too.
Breakfast for the health nuts! Think fresh brewed organic jun kombucha on tap (a craft they take seriously in Ojai) and the best acai bowls in Cali. P.S. Revel is the only place on earth where you can enjoy probiotic matcha and probiotic coffee on nitro.
Nom nom, lunch! Rotie is a fantastic place to eat outside in downtown Ojai. Everyone is eating the Lebanese rotisserie chicken platters - which are very good, but they’re not the only things here you’ll like. They also have a bunch of choices for sides to go with your chicken, and you should focus on the tabouli salad and the rotisserie potatoes, which are like French fries, except whole fingerling potatoes. They have great sandwiches, too, especially the grilled eggplant with cabrillo cheese. Grab a glass of wine from the bar, soak in the views of the mountains, and brainstorm ways convince your boss to let you work part-time from Ojai.
Lunch meets dinner at this local hot spot! The Nest offers modern comfort food made from scratch and served right in the heart of the Ojai Valley. They use all local produce and organic ingredients too! They have a super yummy and innovative menu! P.S. check out their awesome weekly specials.
Calling all my winos! We are talking an award-winning certified organic winery that was one of the first out in the Central Coast. They have a tasting room right on the main drag in Ojai, where they'll pour flights of their most popular wines and tell ya all about the grapes. It is a must stop!
Winos take two! At this tasting room you can work your way through 300-plus wines on offer, though the deliciously elegant Ojai-vineyard grown Syrahs, Pinots, Chardonnays, and Sauvignon Blancs are the main draw—and a testament to owner Adam Tolmach’s purist approach to winemaking.
This playful picnic and wine shop is quintessentially Ojai. On Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 7 p.m., the patio becomes a wine bar. Try a cheese and charcuterie board or hummus and seasonal vegetables, paired with wine, beer, or Mexican Coke from the bar, which is built into a vintage trailer. Pro tip: The patio faces east, the essential direction to enjoy Ojai’s Pink Moment—the famous sunset that turns everything a glowing pink. Plan to arrive early enough to get a glass of rosé and snag the table in the front of the yard for the best end-of-day view. A perfect, pre-dinner drink spot!
Ojai is a super friendly bike town! Rent a bike from Bicycles of Ojai ($26 for the whole day) or from Ojai Electric Bikes and enjoy this beautiful trail with drop-dead gorgeous scenery! Take the trail from Ojai to the next town over, Ventura, and put your toes in the sand! It's not too challenging, there's lots of shade, and you can complete a one-way leg of the ride in under an hour, which means lots of time for exploring Ventura before heading back. P.S. Bring water and some cash for lunch. Enjoy!
Beep Beep! Climb aboard 6 & 7 passenger Jeep "Wranglers" and classic "CJ-8 Scramblers" for an adventure through the back-country trails of Ojai & Santa Barbara. Your choice of Mountain, Wine Country or Sunset tours, all offer a unique alternative to experiencing the amazing history and breath-taking scenery of the area, by leaving the driving to the professionals! They have three unique Ojai tours that are a must, check them out.
Looking to break a sweat? Shelf Road Trail is a 3.5-mile out-and-back hike that passes through fragrant tangerine orchards and leaves you at a scenic lookout over Ojai Valley. Bring water!
In need of a little R&R? Search no more, Spa Ojai is your one stop shop for pure bliss! They have a unique and extensive list of treatments, offering everything from Himalayan salt massages to sound therapy, and spiritual guidance with their on-site Energy Alchemist. Their Kuyam treatment, which combines healing clays, dry heat, and meditation, is inspired by the local Chumash Native Americans. Located at the Ojai Valley Inn, the 31,000-square-foot spa facility contains 28 treatment areas, we suggest you check at least one of them out!
