At the start of the pandemic, when the world was adjusting to new routines and staying cautious, Aleesha’s mom decided to invite her and her friend Sara to dinner at the home of her friend, the Rifkins. With little else to do and the promise of food and wine, Aleesha and Sara were in. They arrived, unaware of who else would be there. What they didn’t know was that Miles was visiting from Seattle for the weekend. The evening was filled with good food, great conversation, and laughter. As the night went on, Aleesha’s mom expressed her desire for the recipe for the salmon they had just enjoyed. Miles, ever the gentleman, offered to share it with her—but Aleesha’s mom insisted that he send it to Aleesha directly. A few weeks later, Miles reached out to Aleesha, not with another recipe, but with an invitation to spend the 4th of July weekend in Central Oregon with his two brothers and their friends. Though hesitant at first, Aleesha was convinced to join, and the weekend turned into something special. The rest, as they say, is history.
