Some love stories start with grand gestures or chance encounters in far-off places. Ours? It started at church—where faith, music, and, apparently, a little bit of nervous small talk can lead to something amazing. Nick first saw Aleena on the worship team when he started attending church. He was instantly captivated—not just by those vocals, but by her beauty. He couldn’t help but admire her from afar. Their first real introduction came through mutual friends (Shoutout Victoria & Navid). What Aleena didn’t know was that Nick had already been smitten before they even spoke. And what Nick didn’t know was that Aleena thought he was cute, too. Funny enough, Nick had been convinced that Aleena was already married, mainly because she always wore a ring on her left hand. He’d often find himself scanning the church, trying to figure out who her "husband" was, but it wasn’t until Mama Nancy stepped in and did a little detective work that Nick found out, much to his relief, that Aleena wasn’t married after all! Naturally, Nick seized the opportunity to impress her… by talking about football. And his glory days as a free safety. And then, well, nothing else, because nerves got the best of him. (Smooth, right?) Fun fact: One day when they were talking in their church's lobby, Nick got so nervous he spilled his acai bowl on himself! Fast forward a year to the church’s Daniel Fast, a time of spiritual renewal—and, apparently, divine matchmaking. What started as casual chats quickly turned into daily FaceTime calls, with one legendary night stretching until 5 a.m where Nick told Aleena how he felt about her. Before they knew it, they had become best friends. And after just TWO weeks of talking, Nick had told Aleena that he loved her. (He claims it was an accident, but we know he’s lying) Now, here we are, ready to say “I do,” forever grateful that God’s timing—and football brought us together.
