A Nikah is the Islamic marriage ceremony performed by an imam. Guests can expect a short sermon, a prayer, and the signing of the marriage contract.
The Nikah starts promptly at 4:30 pm. Please arrive no later than 4:15 pm to ensure you find your seat before the ceremony begins. Appetizers and refreshments will begin being served before the reception starts at 6 pm.
The dress code is modest and formal for the Nikah and reception. Indian attire is encouraged, but not required. Women are asked to bring a light scarf or shawl to cover their hair for the religious portion of the ceremony.
Great question! Typical guest attire for Indian weddings is colorful and intricate but not too heavy. Women's attire can include salwar kameez, anarkali, saris, and lehengas. An average outfit will cost between $50 and $200. Men's attire is typically a kurta pajama (with or without a vest). An average outfit will cost between $50 and $150. When ordering outfits, be prepared to take your measurements and go a size up. If you need recommendations, please feel free to reach out.
While we would love to have everyone celebrate with us, we understand that for some, it's not an easy trip to make. For folks on the West Coast who cannot fly out, we are planning a smaller, Oregon-based reception sometime in Spring 2025.
