Julia and Alec met in Mr Muys' IB English Literature class at Sequoia High School. Working on a project together, they had an argument over the Oxford Comma. Julia was against, Alec for. Since then, Julia's position on the matter has evolved.
9 years since last seeing each other, Alec and Julia were brought back to one another through a global pandemic, Instagram DMs, and a shared career in Gaming. Like any other meeting in Silicon Valley, it wasn’t clear at first if they were networking, or if the intentions were greater, but just few weeks on they found themselves standing on Avila Beach saying 'I love you.' The two then embarked on an 8-month nomadic adventure of AirBnB living across California, Texas, and Arizona before finally settling back in San Francisco by April of 2021.
On a cold December night in Paris, Alec got down on one knee at the Louvre, where we happened to be the only people around. Since we didn't get anyone to take photo, we went back in the morning and posed!
In September, we received the difficult news that Garrett, Alec’s father, was nearing the end of his battle with cancer. In the midst of this sudden and unexpected life change, we had to adapt. With the support and presence of just a few family members (including a spontaneous intercontinental trip from Julia’s parents!), Garrett, an ordained pastor, officiated an intimate backyard wedding and pronounced us Husband and Wife on September 24th. While it was far from the big wedding in Spain we were in the midst of planning, it turned out to be exactly perfect, and we are so grateful to have this special family memory. We said goodbye to Garrett on October 11th and are deeply missing him. We would still love to have the celebration we were always planning, and would be honored if you could join us to drink some cava and eat some tapas, dance with us, and hear the vows we shared on that perfect day.
