After almost eight years together, Sasha and Alec don't have enough space on this website to share their entire story but they will try their best. They met in May of 2018 while studying at Texas Tech University and had their first date at Holly Hops Ice Cream Shop. Alec was clearly nervous but that didn’t stop him from asking Sasha on a second date and many after. THE ENGAGEMENT His POV: I proposed to Sasha on January 3rd, 2025, at the top of a ski lift at Snoqualmie in Washington. We were surrounded by friends in one of our favorite places, doing something that’s become a big part of our relationship. It had been snowing most of the day, which made everything feel calm and magical. Sasha knew a proposal was coming eventually — we had looked at rings together a couple months earlier — but I don’t think she expected it to happen on this particular trip. I’d been anxious about keeping the ring hidden all week, but I wasn’t nervous about her answer. When we reached the top, I unclipped from my snowboard, grabbed her hand, and got down on one knee. I told her that I loved her and wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. She was so surprised that her legs almost gave out — which, considering she was still clipped into her skis, could’ve gone badly! There were a few people in the background I wished weren’t there, but none of that mattered in the moment. My favorite part was being able to celebrate right after with our friends, soaking up the excitement and the snowy view together. It was the perfect start to the next chapter of our lives. Her POV: I was so excited about our ski trip to Washington because not only were we going to do one of our favorite activities together but we would get to spend time with some of our closest friends, Sean and Wendy Kilpatrick. We flew in the day before our engagement and were utterly shocked when Sean and Wendy surprised us with a two night stay at the incredible Salish Lodge. I questioned Alec about it but he was as shocked as I was when we pulled up to the waterfall cliffside hotel. Sean insisted that it was part of Wendy's birthday weekend celebration (coincidentally) and it would also mean a shorter drive to the mountain the next day. I brushed off my engagement speculations because our friends' generosity was not surprising. The next morning, we were getting ready to head out but for some reason Alec refused to let me hold his ski jacket. I must've asked at least 5 times because I'm a persistent queen but he absolutely would not give in. I thought that was weird but things hadn't clicked yet. On the drive to the mountain, while getting lost in the falling snowflakes, a lightbulb went off in my head. I wasn't sure, but Alec acting kinda funny made me think there was a chance he was planning to propose. After some skiing, we decided to take a lift to a higher part of the mountain. Sean, who is a beginner skier, insisted that he go with us, even though he was clearly struggling. I tried to convince him to take a break but he was being just as stubborn as Alec earlier that day. We get to the top and Alec walks off to the side to readjust his snowboard bindings, or so I thought. He starts unclipping from his snowboard and taking off his helmet so I asked him, "are you taking a break?" He laughed, said no, and then took my hand. The rest is a bit of a blur but I do remember my legs going numb, butterflies in my stomach, and Alec saying, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Sean and Wendy captured the moment with videos and pictures and I felt utter joy especially with the huge rock on my finger.
