Getting to Catalina

Catalina Island (Avalon) is accessible by ferry from 3 major cities: Long Beach, San Pedro, & Dana Point. Therefore, you have options in terms of which airport you fly into when traveling to/from California mainland. If you are looking for the most convenient route, we recommend flying into L.G.B. (Long Beach Airport) as the Long Beach Catalina Express Ferry port is located 20 minutes away. Flying into LAX is also pretty comparable with a drive time to the Catalina Express ferry port being 32 minutes. When planning your travel, be sure to compare flight arrival times with available ferry departure times (and factor in de-boarding, collecting luggage, and distance between designated airport and ferry port). Keep scrolling for helpful details regarding the Catalina Express ferry.
