It all started with our best friends Matt and Emma. When Matt and Emma were just two dates in themselves, sitting together, Emma casually asked, "Do you have any cute friends for my best friend Keely?" Matt didn't even hesitate-- "Yes, Alec." That one answer kicked off a slow-moving, very intentional plan. Once Emma got home, she had me follow Alec on Instagram...even though he had zero photos (a bit of a mystery move, but it worked). Nothing came of it right away. A few months went by, and life was busy. Then one weekend, Alec came to San Luis Obispo to visit Matt. Emma saw her chance. When I got home from work, Emma simply said, "We're going to Matt's. Get dressed you are meeting a boy tonight." Meanwhile, Matt told Alec, "Emma's bringing her best friend over. There's going to be a bonfire tonight." Neither of us were prepared for a setup--but we didn't question our friends and we went. And thank goodness we did! From the moment we sat down (next to each other thanks to some subtle not-so-subtle matchmaking), we never stopped talking. We laughed, talked about everything and nothing, and forgot there were other people at the bonfire. It was easy, natural, and full of that something you can't explain- but just feel. At the end of the night, Alec asked for my phone number and gave me a hug as I left. And by the next weekend, we were on our first date in Lodi. That night around the fire turned out to be the spark of something unforgettable and now we're getting married. All thanks to our best friends who knew before we even did.
