For all those that know me (Charli), know that I have dreamed and thought of my wedding for pretty much the entirety of my life and for all those that know Alec, know he was the total opposite. We had been together 3.5 years when we were taking our summer vacation to Florida with both his parents and mine. Although I was hoping to come home with an upgraded title from girlfriend to fiance, I had no confirmations that the event would actually happen. Once it didn't happen on Sunday, which was the fourth of July, I pretty much convinced myself that this week was not the week. The next day Alec asked if I wanted to go get sushi for dinner just the two of us and I thought nothing of it because we do that quite often, but I still dressed for it just incase ;). Well we leave dinner and still nothing so at this point I was REALLY convinced that this week was just not going to be when this happened. When we return back to the house, his dad greeted us in the garage saying he had a huge surprise for the both of us but that we had to do two things. One, take the shot of tequila he was handing us and two, we both had to put on blindfolds. So we both obliged (or so I thought) and I was guided through the house to the backyard by the pool. As we were walking through the house, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton was playing (which was my mom & dad's wedding song for those of you that don't know). When we got to the back I was told we could both take off our blindfolds only to open my eyes to the love of my life down on his knee holding the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. We spent the next several hours celebrating, reminiscing about the last five years that we have known each other, and of course drinking champagne. It was a moment I will never forget.
