Our love story started with a simple message on Hinge. Becca mentioned loving chocolate cake. Alec replied with what seemed like a sweet, selfless gesture: “You’ll never have to share your chocolate cake with me.” On the surface, it sounded romantic. In reality, Alec just didn’t like chocolate cake. (It worked anyway.) They met for drinks on a Monday night after work at Sidecar Social and ended up talking for hours. Becca was heading home for Thanksgiving. Alec had a work trip to Mexico. They figured they’d see each other when they got back. But the very next morning, Alec texted, asking if she wanted to go out again that night. She said yes, and they had pizza and chocolate cake at La Grande Orange. From there, they kept finding excuses to see each other. A few weeks later, Becca was in Boston for her company’s holiday party when Alec asked her to change her flight to come home early—he really wanted to bring her to his holiday party. She said yes, and that night, they officially became a couple. The holidays meant more time apart—Becca at home for Christmas, Alec off on vacation—but they talked every single day. When they were finally back in Arizona, they were inseparable. By February, they were practically living together, and by the end of May, it was official. Over the next year, they went on adventures, shared so many laughs, and built a life together. Then, on December 15th, Alec got down on one knee and asked Becca to marry him. And just like that, the next chapter of their story began.
