Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Alexandra Tomlinson and Alec Mix

Lake Clear Beach

Route 30, Saranac Lake, NY 12945

Walk into Lake Clear beach, a natural Adirondack sand beach. Pack a lunch and some drinks and enjoy the view. Follow the signs to the parking area.

Baker Mountain Trailhead

189 Forest Hill Avenue, Saranac Lake, NY 12983

An excellent hike right in Saranac Lake. This is a 1.6-mile out-and-back trail that is considered moderately challenging. This short hike leads to rewarding views of the High Peaks and Lake Flower.

Adk RailTrail Inn

33 Depot Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983

The Rail Trail is a 34-mile recreational trail that connects Lake Placid to Tupper Lake. This is a vehicle-free, multi-use trail. Hope on at the Depot if staying in Saranac Lake.

Olympic Sites + Museum Passport

Olympic Bobsled Experience

If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be an Olympic slider, this is the place to start! Led by our professional driver and brakeman, you'll begin at the half-mile point on the track and wind through Olympic turns known by sliders around the world. Feel the rumble of the sled thundering down the track, speed through one turn, bank high on the next one, and pick up speed on the straightaway. Let's just say you'll go faster than you're allowed to drive a car through town!

Ride the Gondola to the top of Little Whiteface

It's like a bird's eye view—in flight! Our eight-passenger Cloudsplitter Gondola carries you from the Main Base Lodge to the top of Little Whiteface in fifteen minutes. As you trace the mountain's contours—soaring over streams, ski trails, steep rock faces and thick forests—the beauty of the Adirondacks reveals itself.

Drive up Veterans Memorial Highway to the Top of Whiteface

High Falls Gorge

High Falls Gorge is a 22 acre, privately owned nature park. We provide safe trail access for all ages to an otherwise inaccessible area, with four splendid Adirondack waterfalls cascading over rocks into a deep crevice carved a billion years ago. In the shadow of Whiteface Mountain, you can take a nature walk to view the famous AuSable River as it cascades over ancient granite cliffs.

The Wild Center

Explore The Wild Center and its new Wild Walk—an elevated trail across the Adirondack treetops. Find new ways to connect with nature through outdoor experiences and guided paddling trips, and explore a 54,000-square-foot museum with live animals and hands-on everything.

Paul Smiths VIC

Outside of the visitor center, a 25-mile trail network begins. Take the wide, easy path down to Heron Marsh and birdwatch from one of the viewing platforms. If you want something longer but just as easy, continue straight to the boardwalk over the marsh — this is an amazing opportunity to walk through a wetland without getting wet — or bear right and follow Barnum Brook to the Boreal Life trail, where another boardwalk winds past pitcher plants and bog rosemary to a viewing platform overlooking Barnum Pond. The VIC trails are free to use in the summer, but in winter the property becomes a cross-country ski center. For a small day pass fee (season passes are also available), visitors can use snowshoe, backcountry, and groomed cross-country trails. The groomed trails are maintained for both classic and skate skiing, and they take skiers through the variety of habitats on VIC’s property.
