We met at our church, Emmanuel Christian Center. All the campuses of Emmanuel were meeting to gear up for their fall retreat, Minnesota Youth Convention. As leaders were getting checked in, I saw that Alec was wearing a Vikings Jersey. I love the Vikings, and I love cute blondes, so I boldly walked up to him and said, "The new QB, Case Keenum is better than Sam Bradford, just so you know". Alec replied, "Bradford would come back from his injury and be the greatest." Abbie said, "We'll see." I was right. And I also knew I would never forget the cute blonde in the Viking's jersey. -Abbie
I woke up early Saturday morning after a restless night of sleep. then headed to Emmanuel Christian Center, the place I first met Abbie. This was going to be one of the best days of my life. Emmanuel has always been a special place to me and Abbie, so I knew this is where I wanted to propose. I couldn't have had more butterflies in my stomach from being so excited. When I got to Emmanuel, I met up with Julia, Grace and Audrey who are Abbie's closest friends. We worked together setting up photos, candles, and rose petals for the big moment. After a couple hours, Julia left to go meet Abbie for a "best friend photo shoot". Believe it or not, it was a really good excuse for Abbie to get dressed up because Abbie loves getting her picture taken. While they got ready, Grace, Audrey and I were putting the finishing touches on everything. When the families members arrived, they quickly hid from sight in the room off to the side. Meanwhile, Julia driving Abbie to the church where Abbie thought we would meet the photographer for the BFF photo shoot. To get Abbie to go inside , Julia faked that she needed to go pee. Abbie followed Julia to the doors of the church which were locked. As Abbie rushed to the door, I opened it, ready to take her coat and purse telling her, "You won't need these." I held her hand while we walked together to the place where we first met. Then I took both her hands in mine and told her how excited I was to start our life together and to be her husband. i could tell she was so happy and surprised. when I got down on one knee I could already see her mouth forming the word, yes and then I asked the question of a lifetime, "Abigail Rose Sorensen, will you marry me?" When she said yes, I jumped right up to give her a big hug while more rose petals fell down over us. It couldn't have been any better. Then everyone came out from hiding cheering for me and my new fiancé. -Alec
