10 years later, WE MADE IT!!!! Maybe because our favorite number is 10, it was meant to take that long to get engaged hehe. Cameron and I met in 2014. He came to my friend's birthday dinner and him and his friend showed up to hangout! They ended up staying all night with us and I’m pretty sure it was “like” at first glance. Cameron and I started talking after he messaged me to get chips & salsa and margaritas. We started texting daily and meeting up every now and then. He asked me out at the St. Patrick’s Day parade in the middle of the street, and we had our first date the day before his 24th birthday. He brought me flowers and chocolate and it was a great date. Ever since then, we stayed in touch and Cameron was taking me on weekly dates by the summer, every Tuesday night! Our “like” grew into love, and we were definitely in the honeymoon phase! Over the last 10 years, we’ve gone through 2 college graduations, 2 children, buying a house, getting a dog, wonderful trips and amazing memories. I can’t believe we‘re here after so long, I can’t wait to continue forever.
I surprised Cameron with a trip to TULUM, MEXICO for our 10 year anniversary. Pretty much set up my own engagement and didn’t even know it! Cameron dropped Hayes & Hudson off at abui’s house the night before, and asked for their blessing to marry their daughter. They knew all along and we’re waiting for the phone call or message that it had happened. We enjoyed the first night together and explored the resort and went to dinner. The next day we had the most eventful and amazing day ever riding ATVs, ZipLining and going inside a cenote! We came back and got ready and went to a lovely Italian dinner. After dinner we went to our spot where we originally went when we arrived in Tulum, right by the ocean. It was just us, some drinks, and the beach. We had the most amazing long conversation going over all of our milestones in life, asking each other questions about ourselves, and everything we’ve been through. He got up to use the restroom, and when he came back, I don’t remember what he said, but all of the sudden I saw his hand reaching in his pocket, he got on one knee and pulled out a ring and asked said the words, “Will You Marry Me?” and I lost it. He was telling me he loved me, tears in his eyes, as well as mine, and all I could say was, “OH MY GOSH, IS THIS REAL??” I couldn’t believe it. Crying like a baby, I finally said, “Yes!” after he asked me if that was a yes lol. Then he told me all of my loved ones knew and I broke down ever more. It was very intimate, it felt like we were 20 again, reminiscing on our love for each other and going over so many good things and getting to know each other even more. It was beautiful, private, and perfect.
