The First Time We Met

... at Applebees and no, it wasn't love at first sight

Our first time meeting wasn't sweet or romantic but it was definitely funny. We met at Applebees after Bryan's volleyball tournament. I was called to play wing woman for my friend and instead of showing up ready to help her out, I showed up in baggy jeans, an old tank top and a grandma cardigan. Yep, definitely my best self HA! I sat down, and as Bryan likes to put it, the wolves swarmed in. I was talking (and yes, I mean the millennial version of talking) to another volleyball player while Bryan took a very courageous swig of his, let's just say third, Long Island and made his way over to us. If you know Bryan, you know the line between confident and cocky is pretty blurred but there he was, standing next to me beginning to interrupt my conversation with his friend. Instead of turning and falling madly in love with him (because have you seen his eyes and smile?), I was so rude and dismissed him. The next day and I went to the final day of their tournament in an effort to "fix" things with Bryan. He purposely sat next to me and ignored me, so I left. Despite being rejected by Bryan, I wasn’t going to give up just yet. So, as any impateint 22 year old girl who’s an only-child does, I made the first move and added him on facebook, waited for him to message me... and NOTHING. I was pretty upset because I clearly don’t handle rejection well. Fast forward a couple weeks and I ran into him, and his friends while they were headed out for drinks. And as my luck would have it, I looked like a troll. We’re talkin’ shorts, huge t-shirt, glasses, hair that looked like a bird had made its home in it... I was mortified. I lost all capability of human interaction so I blurted out the first thing I could think of, “you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.” 💀 We texted for a couple weeks and he FINALLY asked me on a date and the rest is history! (Bryan says his version of how we met is the actual truth but who are you going to believe? The Long Island guy or me?!)

The Wedding That Didn't Quit
