The first time that I ever saw Aleah was the first day of freshman year of high school. We were in the same history class, second period, with Coach I as our teacher. We didn't talk much for the first few weeks, then I finally asked to copy her homework since I "forgot" to do mine... She very quickly said "no", and that was the last time we talked for the rest of the year. Fast forward to our junior year in high school and we are in the same sport medicine class. I had grown up a bit, I.E. doing my own homework, and Aleah was just as mature and smart as she always has been. We finally started to become friends and spent a lot of time together in that class. Working the football games together, along with the wrestling matches. We always had great banter and were constantly making jokes with each other. I remember the first night that we kissed like it was yesterday. I had spent the afternoon skateboarding with friends, and ended up in our high schools parking lot later that evening. Aleah was there with her friends and they had just finished up a scavenger hunt. She was wearing this camo crop top and black leggings, and she looked amazing. I remember going up to her at her car and us joking back and forth. I saw my window and I took it. From that point on, we were at each others hips. Once college came around, we decided it would be best if we went our separate ways. Aleah was attending SDSU, and I was going to Colorado to attend CSU. Come Thanksgiving break of freshman year of college, I went down to San Diego to help Aleah drive her car back up to the Bay Area. We had a couple deep conversations and things were just like they had always been. From that point on, I knew I did not want to be with out her. There was always something so special, and I didn't want to lose that. I then brought up the idea for long distance. We were both hesitant at first, but we made it work. We split time going back and forth between Colorado and San Diego through out the school months. Even though it was a very difficult thing to do, it was quite the experience. I was able to become friends with a lot of Aleahs friends in San Diego through the process, and same with Aleah and mine in Colorado. We alternated summers between the two states, and gained wonderful memories that will last a life time. Fast forward one more time, and we are both living in Denver. Memorial day weekend is coming up and we decide to book a trip to San Diego. We spend the day hanging out at the beach and driving around. Little did she know.... I had a ring in my pocket the whole time. We went up to sunset cliffs in the Ocean Beach area around sundown, and that is where I made my final move. With such a stunning view, and such a beautiful girl, I knew I had everything I wanted. I got down on one knee and asked the question. She said YES! To say that I am grateful is an understatement. I cannot wait for what this life brings us next. - Chris Greer
