Our Love Story

As told by Aleah: Brian was probably the last person I thought I'd marry when I met him. Anyone who knew Brian in his college days knew that he wasn't the most serious guy. Turns out we had some mutual friends and his fraternity brothers put me up to a challenge. I vividly remember Paul and Mike telling me that Brian was "so good looking" and that "no girl could get him." Proved them wrong, didn't I? But really, I couldn't thank the two of them more for introducing me to the love of my life and my very best friend. The two of us hit it off at my sorority's date party. The semester was coming to an end and, of course, in true Thompson form, he waited until the last second to tell me he'd be staying in Ann Arbor for the summer. The two of us spent nearly every second together that summer. We ate Dominos pizza and binged Breaking Bad, laughed until our sides hurt, attracted all sorts of attention around town in his super trooper, but most importantly we fell in love. He was (and still is) the most gentle-hearted, kind human I've ever met. Brian showed me what it meant to be truly happy with exactly what you've got right now. He showed me what unconditional support looked like. He gave me my first set of Thompson hounded rocks and showed me that if you drive 9 hours you'll still be in MI. I can't say I wanted to marry Brian after that summer. But, I was intrigued. I knew I wanted to spend more time with him. It wasn't until we started our long distance relationship that I knew he would be the man that I'd say "I do" to. I won't bore you with the rest of our love story, but over the following 5 years, he became family in every sense of the word. I learned more about him with every year that passed and I fell in love with him despite all of his flaws. Have you seen his big toe? HA! In all seriousness, he is just like a good glass of bourbon. He can give you a kick in the ass, soothe your soul after a rough day, and he gets better with age. I love ya babe, never change.
