Rib Mountain State Park
Rib Mountain, you can't miss it! In the winter, Granite Peak is a popular skiing destination. In the summer, it is a beautiful paved hike up the mountain as well as nature trails. In October, check out their website to purchase ski lift tickets to view the beautiful fall colors.
Knowlton House Distillery
High quality drinks including smoked old fashioneds, cheese curds and burgers. ** Bonus ** Only a 6 minute drive from the Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA). Historical beginnings: The Knowlton House opened in 1849, just a year after Wisconsin became a state. As immigrants flooded the area looking for new opportunity, the area’s first tavern, the original Knowlton House, opened its doors. Offering drinks, food and lodging – Knowlton House served as a popular roadhouse for those traveling through or settling in the area.
Lemongrass Asian Fusion Restaurant & Bar
Wausau has a very large asian influence as we are home to many of the Hmong refugees after the Vietnam war. This location is one of our favorites and is our go-to when we can't seem to figure out where we want to enjoy a nice meal. The spice scale is impressive, if Kiko is the cook, expect some real heat if you ask for a "4" or "Kiko's way".
Wausau On Water (WOW Family Entertainment Center)
A local version of Dave and Buster's with great food, arcade, and drinks. We enjoy summer days on the patio on the riverfront with a margarita pizza, Spotted Cow (Tom) or Sangria (Melissa).

Some of the best craft beer that we have experienced and they continue to make new concoctions on a rotating basis.
Sawmill Brewing Company
Located in Merril, Wisconsin which is about a 30 minute drive north of Wausau. Sawmill is appropriately named and themed after lumberjacks and logging business that continue to have a large influence in north/central Wisconsin. Sawmill Brewing Company won the most votes in a statewide beer bracket as well as the national championship for the 2023 March Brewsanity Competition. Needlessness to say, their beer is good! Melissa loves their dark beers and the cheese board is an amazing value with an entire wedge of Satori cheese, summer sausage, and nuts for only $10.

For those of you who enjoy the slot machines or blackjack, there is a casino about 30 minutes outside of town.
