Château de la Valouze, 24490 La Roche-Chalais, France

Near Bordeaux in the heart of the green Perigord region, the estate of La Valouze can sleep 52 guests in the chateau and its surrounding buildings. There is over 34 hectares of parkland, 2 lakes, a bamboo forest, and heated pool. We have rented out the entire property from May 17-19. Bookings are currently full, but the venue is building more accommodations that might be available for our date. Please contact Sarah or Matt if you are interested in being added to the wait list. Check in 3pm May 17th, check out 4pm May 19th.

Shuttle

from Château de la Valouze to the Le Lavalette Restaurant

We have hired a shuttle to transport you, our wonderful guests, to the welcome dinner. Pickup location: front steps of Château de la Valouze, 24490 La Roche-Chalais. Leaving at: 6:00pm * Please be sure to be at the pickup location early. If you miss it you will need to find other transportation. If you are not staying onsite, but would like to catch the shuttle please let us know ahead of time so we can be sure you have a seat. Returning at: 11:00pm If you predict you might need to leave earlier please find other transportation.

Flight

PAR- Paris, France

This is the largest city to easily fly into. The flight from LA is about 12 hours. You could also fly into Bordeaux (an hour from the venue).

Train

from Paris to La Roche Chalais

The train is usually the fastest and cheapest way to travel around France. We recommend taking the train from Paris to Angoulême (2 hours) From there option 1 would be hopping another train to Coutras, then grabbing a 15min taxi to the venue. Option 2 from Angoulême would be to rent a car and drive to La Roche Chalais (1 hour).

Rental Car

Hertz

We recommend renting a car ahead of time. Both Bordeaux and Angoulême are about an hour away from the smaller town of La Roche-Chalais where the wedding will be located. Most cars are stick shift and often diesel in France. If you will be needing an automatic, book early and be ready to possibly pay a little extra. Most roads are toll roads, you can use card or coins.

Château Bellevue

This Chateau was recommended to us by our Venue. It is about a 15min drive from Chateau de la Valouze. "The Bellevue Castle dating from the 17th century offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and horses in freedom. The large swimming pool (72m²) and the 40-hectare park are at your disposal as well as a private terrace with garden furniture, free internet access and parking for cars. The Chateau is next to Chalais and its shops (4 km) and close to the vineyards, between Cognac and St Emilion and the famous village of Aubeterre with a wide range of craft products."
