The Meeting (from his point of view)

"That's not how you ask for my number"

We met at a cabaret that she gave in November of 2005 where I came to do security. We struck up a conversation because she was worried about people not showing up. I assured her that they would come and we talked off and on for the rest of the evening. At some point a guy approached her and asked who she was at the party with. Trying to get rid of him, she nodded her head towards me and said..."I'm here with my man." I didn't know at the time that she was speaking our future into existence. The party was a success and by the end of the night we both were interested in spending more time together. I had a feeling that she wanted me to ask for her phone number and right as the party is ending I said to her... "Let me get your number." Her response to me... "That's not how you ask for my number." I was surprised and turned around and walked away. I couldn't believe her response. After realizing she didn't say no I decided to ask again. No woman had ever responded that way and I was intrigued to say the least. A few minutes later I was back and said to her... "May I have your phone number so that I can call you?". Her response to me... "Yes you can!" And so it began! Thinking back on the night we met I believe we were meant to be husband and wife. I'm ready to be the husband she deserves. Thank you all for going on this journey with us!!!!

The Proposal (from her point of view)

A Grand Gesture

After almost 16 years and many attempts at a relationship we were once again dating one another. When he brought up the subject of being exclusive AGAIN I was skeptical. We had been back and forth too many times and while I knew we loved one another I didn't know if this would be more of the same. He assured me that it wasn't and I told him that I needed a grand gesture of some sort to know that he was serious. Words were no longer enough. We continued to date, talked about marriage and even went window shopping (or so I thought) for rings. Unbeknownst to me he went back the very next day and bought the ring that I said I loved. He decided to propose on my 50th birthday at dinner with my family and friends present. During dinner he had gone around and told my daughter and best friends that he was going to ask me to marry him that night and of course they kept it a secret from me. After dinner was over, gifts were opened and cards had been read, I was saying my "thank you's" when he tells me I have another gift to open. He proceeded to get down on one knee and said... "You asked for a grand gesture. Here's your grand gesture. Will you marry me?' After the initial shock wore off my decision was an easy one. I responded "I will. I surely will!" And just like that we're engaged! I can't wait to be married. I have never been more ready for anything in my entire life! Please continue to keep us in your prayers!!!!!
