We can’t believe it’s been five years since we met. It happened at the beginning of another cold Chicago winter, when we were both recruited by a mutual friend to join the same volleyball team. Our start was no fairytale: Albert was in another relationship while Arielle was on a quest to find her Jewish prince charming. Our relationship grew slowly but steadily with every passing volleyball season, especially by the end of 2018 when we both found in each other not just a teammate but a lifelong friend. From that point on, nothing has come between us, and we have turned what seemed like an improbable relationship into an exciting adventurous life together!

When Albert got down on his knee during sunset in Menorca, a beautiful island off the coast of Spain, he explained to Arielle how important and special this place is to him. After spending every summer there with his entire family, Menorca symbolizes the values of family and community. With this in mind, Albert asked Arielle if she wanted to build their own family based on those same values. How could she say no? This proposal would have never happened without the help of his brother Artur and his girlfriend Grisi. Although not very discretely, Grisi persuaded and mildly forced Arielle to dress up for the night, which is no easy task, but more importantly, they were able to capture the moment so that we never forget (check out picture below!)
