One day one of my girlfriends and I were trying to figure out a way to escape the typical Florida summer heat. So we got the idea that we would go down to a creek we've seen some of our friends go to almost every day, we got in my Jeep and drove 45 minutes to this small creek in Punta Gorda. From what we heard it sounded like our friends were there every day, but of course, we get there, and not a soul in sight. So we say let's get in and cool off and maybe some of our friends will show up. About 15 minutes later a white GMC (Brandon's truck) that looks like it might be struggling by the way he was driving, pulls up, he and a couple of his friends jumped out of his truck all holding pool floats, some with duck tape covering puncture holes. My friend and I look at each other like this is about to get entertaining so we sit back and get ready to watch what looked like what was going to be a show from these boys, mind you I haven't even noticed Brandon yet. So they all jump in the water, not saying a word to my friend or me for a few minutes, but we are all looking at each other like "who is going to talk first?" Then for the first time, I make eye contact with Brandon and at that moment I look at my friend and tell her not to let me talk to him because he looks like he could be trouble. But of course, that was not the case. Brandon tells his friends that he wants to jump off the small bridge, so they all head out of the water to climb up to the bridge. At that moment he looked at me and asked me to hold his silly straw hat that he was wearing (because he wanted to talk to me), from that moment, it is all history. I always think to myself I am so happy it was a hot day, and I am so happy that God put us in the same place at the same time. Who would have thought, that summer day was going to be the beginning of the rest of our lives together. Now almost five years later here we are about to get married. And truly blessed we are.
