Amalfi is a town in a dramatic natural setting below steep cliffs on Italy’s southwest coast. Between the 9th and 11th centuries, it was the seat of a powerful maritime republic. The Arab-Norman Sant'Andrea cathedral at the heart of town, with its striped Byzantine facade, survives from this era. The Museo Arsenale Amalfi is a medieval shipyard-turned-exhibition space. The bus from Amalfi to Ravello departs from the main Piazza alongside the harbor, about 50 meters from where the larger SITA buses from Sorrento (and Salerno) terminate their runs. You'll identify find the stop for the Ravello bus from the canopy on the eastern end of the Piazza (and the large crowds waiting to board the bus). The bus makes the 25-minute run up the hill to Ravello every hour or so throughout the day, into the late hours of the evening.
