We met through the dating app, Bumble. Alanna swiped right and started a conversation by asking Jonathon about the cruise picture he had on his profile. A month or so later, we met in person in Wausau for a coffee date. Then, after a few more dates and Jon’s impressive cooking, we decided we liked each other enough to “DTR”, define the relationship. A phrase that was new to both of us but our friends said it had to happen.
It was a Friday in 2020. Alanna is almost finished with the end of the school year and feeling exhausted from teaching virtually, so she goes to get a facial. Jon works late on Friday nights so once she gets home, she is comfy on the couch until bedtime. Well so she thought… Jon surprises Alanna around 5 o’clock as he walks in the door, finished with work early. He insists that we are going out for dinner and drinks, but Alanna is hesitant because of Covid 19 and her face being very red from her facial treatment. So Jon says fine I’ll just shower and make us dinner here. Alanna is happy but little does she know what is coming next… After Jon showers and gets dressed, he comes back out into the living room and asks for a hug. Alanna gives him a hug and as she’s embracing him, he drops down on one knee and proposes. Alanna is speechless and bursts into tears. She was so shocked but happily said yes! Then, we FaceTimed our family and friends to share our exciting news.
