The year was 2018. Alanna had just finished up her Master's in Public Health as well as a rather tumultuous relationship. Finding another person to share her life with was a very scary prospect for Alanna. After being egged on by her friends, Alanna decided to join the dating app, Tinder. After several days of swiping left, a man appeared to have "super liked" Alanna. This man's name was Axel, and his profile picture had him dressed up in pirate attire in front of a 1974 Jeep Cherokee. His bio read "Salty sea dog looking for a mermaid." "Hm," thought Alanna. "He looks pretty cool," so she swiped right on Axel. It turned out. the two had so much in common! They both loved Jeeps, going to festivals, oddities and curios, and urban exploring, to name a few. Cut to a week's worth of texting later, the pair decided to go out on a first date. Where did they go, you ask? Why, to the abandoned King Zog's estate in Syosset, NY! Were there reservations held by both parties when they thought about meeting up in the woods to explore an abandoned place? Sure, but it all worked out in the end! The two had a phenomenal first day, which led to a kiss in a fancy Italian restaurant and the eventual sharing of "I love you"'s on a water taxi at Fire Island. 2 years and 2,000 miles worth of a move later, the couple is still in love and patiently awaiting the day in which they may share that love with family and friends.
