Wedding in the Redwoods

June 21, 2025

5 years, one day, and 2 wonderful daughters after our 6.20.2020 wedding day we hope you will join us for our 2025 Summer Solstice wedding celebration. We are going back to Northern California, where we met, fell in love, and took our first family vacation.

The Set Up

May 12, 2018

Alec had a tentative plan to visit his brother Jake and sister-in-law Miriam, and their son David in San Francisco. Miriam immediately began scheming to set Alec up with her most eligible friend, Alanna. Miriam suggested brunch with family (Cousin Mark) and friends (Kristen) to keep it casual at Bar Bocce in Sausalito. Alanna biked in Marin that morning and arrived in purple cycling gear (on brand), threw on her hoodie dress, a rosé themed trucker hat and the lunch began - none of the Williams boys (especially David) had a clue that this was a setup. Within seconds, Alanna decided that this cute boy (nerd) from New York had potential and invited herself to dinner that night. Alanna already knew that Alec liked Asian food and arranged for a double-dinner date at Hawker Fare that turned into a late night at a wine bar and secret first kiss before Alec returned to the east coast. Alec didn’t waste any time and on Monday asked Alanna when he could see her again -- two weeks later, Alec returned to San Francisco for a whirlwind weekend of wine tasting, oysters, beach picnics and the first of many hikes in the Presidio.

The Proposal

February 8, 2020

Alec (in consultation with sister Ari) secretly planned a dramatic, mountain-top proposal in Tahoe in early February, 2020. When the day finally arrived -- conditions were, at best, uncertain. Temperatures and winds were high and interest in skiing was low; but, it was a surprisingly sunny Saturday. Alec, in his usual panicked state, disappeared to aggressively (and excessively) interrogate the resort staff about mountain top conditions and potential alternatives to his plan. Alanna ate breakfast. With a moderate level of comfort -- and an uninsured ring zipped up tightly in his pocket -- Alec returned with a tentative plan and the two headed up the hill. After a few dicey/icy runs and lunch, Alec suggested they venture to the top of the mountain. The lift was closed. He pivoted to a few other options but Alanna was both unimpressed and uninterested -- saying "I'm never doing what you recommend again!" He finally talked her into a few more runs up the Gold Coast lift...but when they got to the top she said this was her last run of the day. As they started down, Alanna was focused on getting to après quickly. He pleaded with her to take it slow and stop for a quick picture -- she thankfully acquiesced. Alec asked if she wanted to take her board off...which created some frustration but ultimately complete surprise when she turned to find Alec on both knees. He asked her to marry him and told her he'd go to the top of any mountain for her (SWOON). Strapped into to her snowboard, goggles on...she said yes! to start a new adventure together. The photographer, who had been trailing them all day, was in the perfect spot for the yes moment.
