Our story

There's a short version and a longer one ...

So if Heidy were writing this, our story would be: “They met, they fell in love, they lived happily ever after. The end.” If that does it for you, you're done! But if you’d like a few more details, feel free to read on … About the time we met, both of us were tired of the online dating thing. There were some interesting people we came across, and some, well … Anyway, we independently gave it one last shot. Instagram kept filling Heidy’s feed with Coffee Meets Bagel ads, and a friend from my church strongly encouraged me to give it a try as well. Short summary on Coffee Meets Bagel: the women pick and choose who they want to talk to. All guys can do is indicate if we’re interested in a profile. Yay for me, Heidy liked my profile. So, she wrote a short note and I responded. Next thing we knew, we had a conversation going on the app … then exchanged numbers and texted the rest of that weekend (I was out of town at my nephew’s wedding), and even talked on the phone! How old school was that? First date: We met at a poke restaurant. And talked. And talked. And talked. OK, mostly she talked and I listened. But I was just so into what she had to share about her, her life, her faith in Jesus. And we went across the parking lot to a coffee place. And talked. And talked. And talked. We actually closed the place down. OK, it was only 9 p.m., but hey, a great first date. And that led to another date (hiking) and another (running) and another (to her CrossFit gym) and another (at her church). And we talked. And talked. And talked. The more time we spent together, the more we realized how well we got along, how much we had in common (the beach, working out together). Most of all, we both were looking for a relationship where Jesus would be the center, the focus, the purpose, and the reason. And God blessed us with that through each other. And so, we’ve decided that we want to spend the rest of our time here on earth with each other. Living happily ever after. The end.
