Fancy and Fun (officially "Formal" in wedding speak) to really celebrate our long-awaited nuptials! Wear whatever makes you feel your most gorgeous/handsome self. Show up and Show out! Wedding colors are autumnal jewel tones, if that matters.

Although we don't have a crystal ball, historically for October in this area highs are between the mid 60's and 70's and typically go down to the upper 40's at night.

How do I get to Sky Retreat?

*Pro Tip* if you are planning on renting a car, highly suggest one that is a little more capable of rugged roads ie: most SUVs, Subaru's, jeeps, trucks etc. Directions to Sky Retreat coming from the Wilkesboro area: Coming up the mountain on Hwy US-421 N, take the exit ramp onto Hwy US-221 N and continue 2.5 miles. Turn right onto Idlewild road, and continue for 3.5 miles. Turn right onto Phillips Gap Rd and continue 2.1 miles until it intersects with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn LEFT on the parkway and go a short distance to the next full gravel road on your right (which is Phillips Gap Rd continuing on the other side of the parkway). Turn right onto this road marked by the green street sign that says Phillips Gap Rd and continue one mile. Turn right onto Cascade Drive and continue to reach the Grand Event Hall at the end of Cascade Dr. Directions to Sky Retreat coming from the Boone area: Heading out of Boone on Hwy US-421 S, take the exit ramp onto Hwy US-221 N and continue 2.5 miles. Turn right onto Idlewild road, and continue for 3.5 miles. Turn right onto Phillips Gap Rd and continue 2.1 miles until it intersects with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Where can I stay?

Your best bet would be to grab a room at the Park Vista Motor Lodge, which is the closest place to stay that offers all the amenities (they also offer pet-friendly rooms!). There are also short term rentals and cabins all over the region, however fair warning- we recommend plugging in the Sky Retreat's address for driving directions, because what looks close on a map may actually be a pretty long drive when you're in the mountains! Lots of "typical" hotel accommodations can be found in the neighboring city of Boone, expect a 20-30 minute drive to the venue. Also, recommend booking your room the night before (10/19/26) and the night of the wedding (10/20/26) as soon as you know that you're coming, as October is prime leaf-peeper season and rooms go quickly!
